SOC operates through donations and financial support from the community and local businesses. We are a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, so your donations are tax deductible. Please support us through monetary donations, or through gifts of needed items.

To donate by phone, or if you have questions, contact Emily Schwartz at 313.882.9600, ext. 250. Online donations will immediately receive a printable email receipt. Mailed or phoned-in donations will receive a printed receipt in the mail within 2 weeks.

Donate Cell Phones and Used Printer Cartridges

SOC is seeking donations of inactive cell phones in good working order to be used in connection with the 911 Phone Redistribution Program. Cell phones are made available to seniors who wish to have a 911 emergency phone for safety reasons. Drop cell phones off at the SOC office, 17150 Waterloo in Grosse Pointe.

 

Donate ink and toner cartridgesLaser/Toner/Printer Ink Cartridges
SOC is participating in a recycling program that turns empty ink jet, laser cartridges, and non-working cell phones into new technology. We can get new computers, printers, digital cameras and software for these recycled items. Drop off at the SOC office, 17150 Waterloo in Grosse Pointe.

Donate Lending Closet Items

Lending closetMedical Equipment Lending Closet Items
SOC maintains a lending closet of medical equipment and supplies that seniors may borrow at no charge. If you have equipment that you no longer use, we would be delighted to add it to our lending closet. Medical items in constant need are:

      • Adult male guards
      • Adult disposable briefs
      • Feminine pads
      • Latex disposable gloves
      • Underpads
      • Large hand held magnifying glasses
      • Support hosiery stockings
      • Liquid nutritional supplements

Program Items Wish List
Our daily programs benefit from your new and gently used items. Every item on the wish list that you can donate is one less strain on our budget. Items on our wish list include:

  • Table centerpieces - season appropriate
  • Tea bags - individually wrapped
  • Hot chocolate - individual packets
  • Regular coffee
  • Packaged cookies
  • Wrapped candy
  • Nuts
  • Paper towels
  • Tissues
  • Stamps
  • Lawn waste bags (autumn only)

Donate Your Car
Your old car can mean new opportunities and benefits for SOC and our clients! When you donate your used car, boat or RV to Charity Motors and select Services for Older Citizens as the beneficiary, 70% of the sale price of your vehicle goes directly to SOC services. In addition, the records and all the title work are handled by Charity Motors which is a cost savings to SOC.
